Maybe you've gone through a significant trial.
A big one.
One that tested your faith.
One that you thought would never end.
One that you wondered if you would survive.
The large trials and battles are never easy.
They are often used as a tactic of the Enemy to steal our joy.
But, the trials don't always have to necessarily be big for that to happen.
It can be one small thing, coupled with another small thing.
It can be that we have a day when nothing seems to go right.
It can be that it feels like everything and everyone is conspiring against us.
Don't discount the size of the trial.
The truth is, it doesn't take much to have our joy stolen.
Yet, James tells us, to count the big trial, the small trial, the long trial, or the short trial as joy.
Whatever we're facing is no match for the cross.
Whatever we're facing is not going to exceed God's grace for the moment.
Whatever we’re facing is not going to get the last word.
So, whether the trial is big, small, consistent, or recent,
Ask The Lord to help you with some perspective.
The trials aren't all the same, but our joy can be.
Ask The Lord to help you count the trials as joy.

I’ve had many trials, some big ones and some that simply stole my joy. We recently had a problem within the Church with two people who caused a lot of anxiety. It was difficult, especially for those of us who are on the Consistory. It was hard because these people were our friends. They were involved with ministry and suddenly we had nobody to lead Worship. We prayed. God removed them from the Church which still stings. Things are starting to get back to normal and I keep asking myself how this happened. I’m keeping my eyes on Jesus. He knows things we don’t know.
